Marvel recently announced that it will be releasing NFT and digital comics on its platform called VeVe.
In an announcement on Thursday, Marvel Entertainment says it is partnering with Orbis Blockchain Technologies for NFTs and digital collectibles. It will be on the VeVe platform starting later this year. NFTs will include digital collectibles and comics that Marvel fans can trade. Fans display in virtual galleries, according to the entertainment company.
Daniel Fink, Marvel’s vice president of business development and strategy, said:
Through NFTs, we hope to expand the boundaries of the Marvel universe by creating digital collections where fans can do. Fans share and have fun doing what they haven’t done before.
According to the announcement, Marvel’s digital products will be built on the blockchain. Their users can trade on VeVe’s platform with GEM, an in-app token. Meanwhile, VeVe also supports credit card payments for the token sale. However, the platform offers digital collections that include DC Comics, Star Trek, and more.
There Are Cryptocurrencies In The Marvel Cinematic Universe!
While Marvel hasn’t been directly involved in the cryptocurrency space, individual artists still continue to share their work featuring well-known characters. As you know, last February, an NFT with Adam Kubert’s Spider-Man drawing was bought for $25,000.
Additionally, cryptocurrencies and digital assets have also found their way into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. In the third episode of The Falcon and The Winter Soldier series published on the Disney + platform, a Bitcoin-based award referenced.
The VeVe platform reported that it has sold more than 580,000 NFTs since December 2020. Some sources claim that NFT trading volume could reach $175 million by October.
